Hello, friends! I’m so happy to welcome you to my home for the Home for the Holidays Blog Tour sponsored by King of Christmas, who is also giving away a gorgeous Christmas tree to one of you lucky readers! Yes – you heard that right!! Read on to the end of the post for details on the giveaway. If you’ve arrived from Laila at Designs by Laila, then I know you’ve already been treated to a gorgeous helping of holiday cheer!
Today I’m going to show you around the two entries in my home – the front door main entry, and then the mudroom entry, both of which I’ve decked out for a festive holiday feel. My goal for holiday decorations this year was to keep things light, bright, and simple, and I did that by adding lots of greenery and other natural elements, some gold and silver for sparkle, and a little bit of red.
In my front entry, I like welcoming guests with the big “Why, Hello” sign. It’s up year round, but to draw attention to it for the holidays, I added a fresh garland and some white pom poms.
I’ve always wanted a white Christmas tree – and I don’t mean the flocked kind, although I love those too and have a few, but the all-white variety. (And truth be told, I’ve always wanted one of those shiny pink numbers, too. Maybe next year…) Well, now I have an all white tree, thanks to King of Christmas. This beauty is the 6′ Tribeca Spruce tree from King of Christmas. It is such a pretty tree, and so much fun. I just love how bright and cheerful this tree is, and I think it would be so easy to dress up in just about any theme. I decided to stick with gold and white ornaments for an ethereal, soft look.
Here’s a close up of some of the ornaments – gold beaded garland, white snowflakes, gold glass ball ornaments, and this cute little sparkly gold paper star garland.

I put my tree inside this large wicker basket, just because I like the extra texture it adds. That’s actually one of my favorite Christmas decorating tricks – find a really fun, slightly unusual container for the tree. It adds loads of character!
I tried out a couple of pillow and present combinations before deciding on the red and gold theme. Here’s one of the variations. Nope – went back to the red.
In the end, since this pretty red rug adds some traditional Christmas cheer, I complemented it with a fun red checked pillow on the settee, as well a gold dot pillow to echo the gold in the tree decorations. Colorful gifts in red and gold, and a soft off-white scarf complete the pretty vignette.
I always include at least one nativity in my holiday decorations – and usually more than one. This one is not anything fancy or expensive, but my husband and I bought it for our very first Christmas together, so it is a special sentimental piece for me. I love it on my entry stone-topped console paired with the “Joy to the World” sign made for me by my daughter.
Surprisingly, we have not broken a single figure from this set, although it has been played with many times by tiny hands. Each of my five children loved rearranging the figures in the simple creche when they were little, but somehow all of the pieces have survived – it’s a Christmas Miracle 😉
Here’s another little nativity scene I love (and not just because I got it for .50 cents at the thrift store, but that was a nice bonus!). This one sits just off my entryway in my reclaimed wood cabinet filled with white pottery pieces. I complemented this one with a snow-dusted bottle brush trees, and I love how simple and serene it feels.
A basket with some firewood (just for show since we have a gas fireplace – but you know how us crazy bloggers are, right?!) rounds out the holiday entryway.

A now just a quick peek at the back entry – the mudroom just off the garage.
I always have fun dressing this little spot up for seasonal fun, and that’s pretty easy to do in this mostly white space.
The baskets are there year round – I just add a few fun spots of colors, like the red wool scarf, the ice skates (the black ones belonged to my husband as a teenager in upstate New York), and a fun houndstooth bag.
The cute red car pillow comes from Society 6, made by the talented Lucy of Craftberrybush.
And here it is with the addition of a string of little white lights. Don’t white lights make any place (even mudrooms) feel special?!
