Creating an inviting guest bathroom
If you’re like me, you’re more than ready to welcome family and friends into your home now that our long Covid isolation is behind us. And what better way to make your guests feel welcome than by creating an inviting guest bathroom so that your guests feel like they’ve come to a lovely, 5-star resort.
There are several things you can do to make help your guests enjoy their stay at your home, and creating an inviting guest bathroom is one of them. Let’s talk about a few ideas:
Add soft, luxurious towels
Providing clean, cush-y bath towels will make your guests feel like they’re visiting a top-tier spa! I love these soft and absorbent cotton bath towels I got from Serena and Lily two years ago. And I love how the white towels are edged by a crisp black band.
These towels have been such a treat, because not only have they maintained their soft and absorbent characteristics, but that pretty black band hasn’t lost any of it’s vibrant color after numerous washings…and I admit I was a little worried about that when I first got them. I’ve washed these towels in warm water and tumbled them dry on low. And happy day – they still look good as new!
My banded towels aren’t offered by Serena and Lily any more — too bad, because they’re so fun! But I can definitely find plenty more that I love on their site, like these beautiful Healdsburg towels in crisp white Turkish Cotton. I love that pretty tassel fringe and that banding adds great visual interest.

I’m sure my guests and yours would also feel like they’ve gone to a 5-star resort when they use these pretty striped Turkish towels.

Keep a supply of extra necessities close by
Another tip to help you in creating an inviting guest bathroom for visitors is to make sure your bathroom is stocked with all the supplies your guests will need. I like using baskets to hide extra supplies like toilet paper, extra towels, and all those important necessities like soaps, and extra toothbrushes for those who forgot to pack their own.
These Sag Harbor baskets would work great for storing extra bathroom supplies in.
Provide a large basket or hamper for your guests’ used towels
None of us want to feel like we’re making a mess when we’re a guest in someone else’s home, so make sure you provide a place for your guests to stash those used towels. I love this cute Dot Basket complete with a lid. I think it would make the perfect hiding place for a few used towels.
I’ve had my eye on this textured Riviera Hamper as well. If you’ve got to hide some dirty clothes and towels, why not do it in style?
Make sure you have a soft and absorbent bath mat
Keep things dry and comfortable in your guest bathroom with an absorbent bath mat. It’ll make your guests comfortable, and your clean up easier!
My bath mat is the Guerneville Bath Rug in white. That nubby texture isn’t just for show…it also makes this bath rug super absorbent and cush-y. Again – just washing it in warm water and tumbling it on low keeps it soft as can be.
This Healdsburg Bath Rug is another fun choice for a bath mat. I’m a big fan of the texture in this bath mat. The soft contrast against a hard tile floor would be so pretty.
And the ultimate in creating an inviting guest bath….a luxurious bath robe
Honestly, I don’t know if you should add this last item…your guests may never leaves! But just imagine how fun it would be to be greeted not only with a functional, pretty, and well-equipped bathroom, but to wrap up in one of these cozy, super soft St. Helena Bath Robes when you’re done soaking in the tub. I might think I’d died and gone to heaven!
Pay attention to the details – add some pretty accessories
Once you have the necessities taken care of, it’s time to add those little extras that make a spa-bath special…pretty scented soap, soft tissues, and maybe even some scented lotions for your guests to try. Store them all in clean and beautiful containers, and you’ll be all set!

And last, but not least – some fun extras for creating an inviting guest bathroom
If you’re still looking for ways to amp up the charm and comfort of your guest bathroom, check out these fun extras. I know I’d love to stay someplace with these pretty bathroom touches:
How about a little bling on your shower curtain? I love this pretty navy tassel on the French Tassel Shower Curtain
I have this Dip-Dyed stool in my master bathroom. It’s a great place to perch a plant, place beside your bathtub to hold your towel nearby, or keep your book handy in case you decide on a long soak.
How about a ladder to keep all those pretty towels we talked about earlier hanging near your tub? This Teak Ladder would add some great texture to your space, and go a long way toward creating that inviting guest bath we’ve been talking about.
And while we’re talking about texture…I’ve been dying to add this Blake raffia mirror to a bathroom vanity. I think the texture of the raffia would contrast so beautifully with all of the slick surfaces that are necessary in a bathroom.
I hope this post has inspired you in creating an inviting guest bathroom for all those visitors coming your way! And most importantly…I hope you enjoy spending time with your family and friends this summer. I think we’ll all appreciate those special visits a little more this year!
