I received free product from Beddy’s to write about in this post. As with all my posts, all thoughts and opinions and designs are my own.
Since we have 5 children – all of them married and some of them with kids of their own (8 grandchildren, to be exact!) we decided to set the office/guest room up with adult sleeping quarters, and use the slightly larger (but still not big) room downstairs as a fun room for the 8 grandkids to play in and build some fun sleepover memories in.
Our grandchildren are evenly split – 4 boys and 4 girls (all of them between the ages of 1.5 and 11), so we opted to set up the room up to accommodate both the boys and the girls. Since it only sleeps 6, we decided to set the room up for the youngest 6 and have the oldest two sleep upstairs if they’re all at our house at the same time.
We didn’t want to go to the expense of a fully built in bunkroom since we already own both a white and dark bunkbed set, and we tried to use as much of the furniture we already owned as we could when we built the house. So one dark bunkbed for the boys, and a white bunkbed for the girls is the route we took.
Then came the fun part of adding of bedding and decor that would work for both boys and girls, and would look good together. Enter Beddy’s – the all in one zippered bedding. (Again! They saved me with my RV bedding as well, as you might remember from this post).
We already owned a set of white Beddy’s bedding for the white bunk bed – now we needed something a tad more masculine for the boys’ side of the room.
The gray and white striped Game On bedding set was just perfect! It is netural, yet a little masculine and fun, and it can be dressed up with blue throws and shams to coordinate the girl’s side of the room. Bingo!
I upped the colorful/fun/cozy factor in the room by adding blue quilted comforters to the bottom of both the boy’s and the girl’s beds, and tossed on a colorful quilted throw on the boys’ and the soft blue and white throw on the girls’ bed.
Our grandkids all love sleeping in our Beddy’s-clad beds – warm, cozy (due to the minky lining), and so easy to make up after the sleepover fun is over!
And I love the pillow cases and the inner sheet pattern – it’s fun, but not overwhelming, and the pattern will certainly grow with the kids as they get older.
The leftover space in the kid’s room became a cozy little reading corner on one end…
And corner dedicated to toys, chalkboards, and games on the other.
I kept the wall decor minimal on purpose – there’s a lot going on in this room already! Did you notice those cute little cactus prints? I had my talented graphic-designer daughter makes those up for me since we’re sitting here in the middle of the wild, wild west full of sagebrush and cactus.
She added a couple little flowers (colored blue) to the cactus on the boy’s side of the room, and on the girl’s side of the room she added two coral flowers. Sweet, simple, and fun!
Our guest room is now set up for lots of playing, reading, giggling, and cozy sleeping. Bring on the grandkids!!
Thanks for stopping by today – I always appreciate your thoughts and comments!
