Hi friends – hope you’re enjoying a beautiful holiday season! Today I’m thrilled to be participating in the Deck the Halls Christmas Home Tour sponsored by Decor Gold Designs and Randi Garrett Design, and featuring some of my favorite and incredibly talented blogger friends.
If you’ve arrived here from CC+Mike, welcome! I’m sure you’ve already been floored with Carissa’s incredible style – isn’t she amazing? Love her beautiful home!
I’m excited to show you my living room today – especially since it has been decorated twice this Christmas – I’ve gotta show off at least one of these tries, right? I didn’t love it the first time, so crazy person that I am, I took it all apart and started over! I shared my entry and mudroom here, my kitchen and bedroom here, and I’ll be sharing my dining room on Thursday. Tour time is almost over, and then it’ll be time to just sit back and enjoy all this Christmas wonder!
When I initially decorated my home this year, I had incorporated red, as you can see by my earlier tours. However, when I got to my living room and dining room, I just wasn’t loving the red. I felt like I wanted something more winter woodland-y and natural looking (think Narnia, winter woodlands, snowy, and sparkly). Redecorating this living room tree sparked the change in the entire room.
To bring in more of a natural, woodland-y feel, I added my dog. Dressed in a scarf. What could be more natural, right? 😉  . Actually, the dog came last – after the room was done and I realized that he matched it perfectly. He’s always up for a modeling session. Good doggy.
In order to make the tree feel more woodland-y, I used all the ornaments that I already owned that had something to do with nature. Pine cones, white snowball globes, some snowflakes, and these frosty branches. I always love adding some elements that branch out (pun not intended) from the normal shape of the tree to give a more natural, organic feel.

On the mantle I hung the lighted snowflake that I made last year. I love the white on white – so bright and pretty.
I dressed the mantle with fresh garland, more of the snowy branches, white lights, some snowflakes, and these ornaments that I hope look like snowballs! They’re actually clear plastic ornaments that I filled with fake snow. I’m just waiting now for an overactive child to pull the cap off one, and then I’ll have a styrofoam snowstorm in my living room.
To bring that winter feel to the rest of the living room, I used lots of cozy throws and pillows, including these beautiful gray knit pillows from Rugs Direct. I love how they look like warm winter sweaters, and they are super snuggly, too.

The sheepskin rug under the coffee table reminds me of a big, soft mound of snow (only warmer and it doesn’t melt into a puddle, which I appreciate).
Okay – my little wooden side table is sitting half on and half off the rug here, so it looks kind of wonky. I have no more time to take pictures, so you’re just going to have to imagine it straight, okay? Thanks. That little brass camel is a thrift store find from last year, and that’s my sweet mama in the photo.
A simple silver tray on the coffee table holds a holiday candle and a tiny white nativity.
The window seat – always a popular spot for enjoying the fire.
These gold candlesticks are all thrift store finds. I love the warm glow they add.

And one more look at the tree that inspired project re-decorate.
