A few days ago I shared pictures of the entry, great room, and kitchen of a home I’ve been working on which was recently completed. If you missed that post, you can find it here. Today I want to show continue on our tour and show you the mudroom, hall bath, stairwell, and basement family rooms in this beautiful and classic traditional home.

The mudroom connects the garage with the kitchen and pantry area. I love how you get a glimpse of the fun pendant lights through the transom window, one of the really classic and traditional features of this pretty home.

We took painted beadboard 3/4 of the way up the wall. Four galvanized barn pendant lights illuminate the mudroom and add some cozy style. As was the case in the kitchen, we used white on the trim and beadboard, and went with a stained finish on the mudroom bench for some contrast and warmth.

Hooks, cubbies, a bench, and closed cabinets give the homeowners and guests a handy place to remove and store outside gear. That’s the pantry that you get a peek of to the left of the builtins, and it’s super handy for unloading bags of groceries from the garage.

Now we continue on to this pretty bath, which is off the mudroom and a nearby office. In this room, we went with white subway tiles in the shower and on the entire wall that the vanity sits again. A narrow band of white penny tile with gray grout adds a little spark of personality to the shower walls.

And now we are back around to the stairwell, where you’ll get a peek of the downstairs family room. The trim carpenter did an outstanding job on the trim work in this home – it really makes the traditional elements of this home shine! You can see from the picture below that we carried that height line of the wainscot from the entry all the way around the stairwell walls. It dresses up the stairs to the basement and helps them look like a destination. Plus they create an amazing showcase for that stunning lantern light.

This is the stairwell view from the basement family room. The cleaners hadn’t gotten to the stairwell yet when I took this pictures, but you can see that it’s a beauty – paper on stairs and all! The stairwell is wrapped in the same traditional wainscot trim as the upstairs entryway. Beautiful newel posts, turned balusters, and dark-stained caps and handrails all add to the classic appeal of this home.

This is the fireplace wall in the basement family room. I love how the ledge stone on the fireplace picks up the color of the stained cabinets. The mantle helps tie them together. Just to the right of this wall, is a wall of big, beautiful windows – ensuring that this walk-out basement is light and bright. The big windows also open to that same gorgeous mountain view that is on display in the great room upstairs.

Things are kind of dusty here, but I trust you’ll look beyond that to the beautiful wood of these gorgeous built-ins.
