There’s nothing quite so gorgeous as an old salvaged door with great patina. And I think they look even better when they’re used in updated, modern designs. The contrast is striking, and they add warmth and texture to otherwise ordinary rooms.

I’m hoping to use salvaged doors in my new home, so I thought I’d give you a peek at some great inspiration photos.

This home belongs to my good friend Sandry Cavallo. She and her husband built a beautiful shingle-style home on Old Siver Beach, Cape Cod. They paid homage to the original home that stood on the property by stripped and reusing the original home’s doors. Lovely!

We’re putting a sliding pocket door between our mudroom entry and main hallway. I plan on using one of the old doors we already own as the pocket door. Fingers crossed we can make it work!
